We need a Philosophy group
I really want tildes to have more groups about talk and open discussion. Can we make that happen? I am willing to mod.

There are no mods on ~ but there is a trust/reputation system being planned, which you can read about here.
What philosophical questions would you want to ask? You can make a list and start us off. With enough good content the gods above may hear our plea and consent to the types of discussions you're looking for.
Post a thread in ~talk and tag it "philosophy". If there are enough posts tagged "philosophy", this will probably result in a group being created for philosophy (whether it will be called ~talk.philosophy or ~philosophy is unknown at this point).
For the time being I think that ~talk would work, but in the long run I think that wouldn't be a terrible idea. If we were to have a ~philosophy would you want it to be along the lines of asking philosophical questions and discussing them or news/thoughts by established philosophers?
why not both?
I'm torn about this because while I love discussing philosophy, I'm afraid that giving it it's own group might end up like /r/philosophy. It's turned into tangentially ethics-related articles being posted with little substantive community discussion about their grapples with philosophy. That being said, I'm excited to engage in any philosophical discussions that come up either in ~talk or their own group!
In the beginning /r/philosophy was actually really good and focused. Quality dropped quickly as the sub grew. It could be excellent here I believe.
That's what I would imagine. I only ever got to it late though, so I missed its heyday as with most subreddits. That said if you ever toss up any philosophical discussion points I'd love to hit on them.
I like the Idea of specifically encouraging discussion like this instead of hoping it happens "naturally" in relevant groups.
