Saw them live at the Glasgow Barfly in 2008, they were very good. Played with the lights behind them so they just looked like dark silhouettes most of the set and then the guitarist crowd surfed at the end of Don't Stop, which they played as their last song. Chatted with the lead singer for five minutes at their merch table, really nice dude.

Then when we left, me and a couple of friends who were there with me shared a joint with the support band before we went back to the station for the train home, good memories.

This is legitimately one of my favorite tracks, shame they didn't make much more after this. I have a very specific horrible rip I love to listen to, because back when I was twelve or so I spent countless hours and weeks making a Death Note AMV using Windows Movie Maker that would crash every three minutes using this track. I had to have listened to this in bits and pieces thousands of times.

I still load up that specific video just to listen to it, because the quality is so bad, and so special. Sort of like listening to vinyl and having that one special skip in the middle of the track.

Edit 2: I uploaded it last year to Vimeo, if you were in the online AMV circles around 2009 or so, you likely saw this as it went way bigger than I had thought anything of mine ever would.

Edit: Didn't even realize there was a 'clean' version like the one you linked, that would have been nice (and not as cool) when playing the aforementioned AMV in English class for everyone.

I do think I've seen your video back in the day! I was deep into Death Note at the time as well, and was just coming out of my AMV phase. :)

Add me to the list of people for whom this is a great throwback! This song goes hard.

I always loved the “Dear Future / I bought you / I own the rights” line, but I hated having this song in my shuffle for when people are around because I felt the “fuck the poor” line was either going to reflect badly on me or require an extended and unprovoked explanation, neither of which I really wanted to open myself up to.

Anyway, I’d completely forgotten about this band until now. This also reminded me that I used to be big into dance punk/electroclash (or whichever genre they fit into). If anyone has a modern recommendations for those genres, I’d love to hear them.

It falls right up there with Green Day's American Idiot. A great song whose lyrics sound really bad out of context.

A blast from my past, reminded of the extistence by DJ Cummerbund's Through The Flaming Hotels of California. Ahead of its time.
