Rest in Peace Ozzy.
I really enjoy Sabbath but I wouldn't say I was ever a huge fan. Without them however my life would invariably be incredibly different.
I've made friends through metal music, been in metal bands, travelled all across the country to see metal shows, and metal music has given me an emotional outlet for teenage angst and adult stresses since my dad introduced me to Alice Coopers album "Trash" as a child.
Came to share a similar sentiment. I only like a couple of their songs and don't know a lot about them, only that their influence is second to none in the genre ever since their debut. Half a...
Came to share a similar sentiment. I only like a couple of their songs and don't know a lot about them, only that their influence is second to none in the genre ever since their debut. Half a dozen festivals, triple digit concerts, hundreds of bands I've seen, a few people coming in and out of my life all because of metal. Can similarly not imagine how my life would look without this genre. So yeah, RIP, not sure it's possible to really fathom how influential he/his band was.
Just watched the farewell concert last week and while not the greatest show I've seen, Ozzy, as always, was on point. It always amazed me how he could often barely string together a sentence, but...
Just watched the farewell concert last week and while not the greatest show I've seen, Ozzy, as always, was on point. It always amazed me how he could often barely string together a sentence, but wouldn't miss a single word in his songs. Glad I got to see him in concert a couple of times over the years.
Prepare thyself afterlife, The Ozzman Cometh
RIP to an absolute legend. I am a metalhead through and through and my life would be entirely different without it. Friendships, community, getting through a lot of tough times, etc Glad Ozzy got...

Glad Ozzy got to go out big with their huge farewell tour/shows. Some Sabbath albums are practically perfect. Paranoid is one of my favorites of all time

That said, I'll echo everything said here about his influence and importance. Dude was among the most important tumbleweeds around.
Posting my favorite cover of his, Stayin' Alive (1991) w/ Dweezil Zappa. Truly a fantastic cover - my dad was a radio jockey/tech back in the late 80s, early 90s (92.7 ZZR, S Palm Beach, FL), and...
Truly a fantastic cover - my dad was a radio jockey/tech back in the late 80s, early 90s (92.7 ZZR, S Palm Beach, FL), and one of his friends sent him a master tape of this recording, so it's floating around somewhere in the family archives (storage).
The story goes that at the time they wanted all copies destroyed as the Bee Gees owners either didn't like the idea of his cover, or there was a fallout with Dweezil, I can't quite remember, but either way - he sent this to my dad for safe keeping - no idea if that's true, but I've seen it so at the very least I know that much is real.
It's one of his most prized possessions, along with all the other Ozzy related merch he has amassed over the years. My dad has always looked up to him - I think when he was a teenager it was practically his 'rebellion' against his parents, and it really shaped who he became. When I was younger I honestly believed that he was my real grandfather because of how much my dad was into him (and naturally just looks like him), "Osbourne/Ozzy" has been at the very top of my shortlist for future children names for years now. One day... one day...
This morning I asked how he was doing and all he said was "I woke up at 6am, not sure why, but the first thing I did was to check the news to see if this was all a hoax or not". He is beyond bummed out over this news.
Rest in hell Ozzy, may you take your rightful throne.
The man held out longer than probably anyone would have guessed.
Well, rest in rock and roll Ozzy.
I just found out from Tildes. RIP Ozzy.

Ah man. BRB. I'm going to put the Black Sabbath album on.
RIP Ozzy, I've been listening to you as long as I can remember.

Some of my very favorite things would not exist without Sabbath. Farewell to the Prince.
