I like it so far. I am time constrained by upcoming classes, so I can't write much about it yet, but I promise to give you guys a full review tomorrow.

This album has a special place in my heart. It's the first post-rock album I ever heard, and I first heard it at a time that I had trouble sleeping. So for a month or so, I listened to this album every night when going to bed. Not too loud, but enough to experience it properly. Usually I fell asleep around the song aptly named "Sleep". Sometimes around Antennas to Heaven. Sometimes even earlier than Sleep. Still, it helped me a lot and even though the space between listening sessions sometimes spans more than a year nowadays, I love it immensely. Bought it on vinyl, just as F#A#∞... still looking for Silver Mt. Zion stuff and Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada.. Great album!

Have you used other post-rock albums as a sleep aid? Sigur Rós springs to mind as one which might be effective.

Please reply to this comment with all nominations for Week 12 of the listening club then vote on submissions you would like to see chosen. Votes and nominations will still count until minutes before the 11th week's thread is posted.

Feel free to "sell" your nominated record in your comment. By the nature of obscure nominations, there probably won't be many others who are familiar with what you mention. Tell us why you think we should hear it, if you'd like! If your record is picked, this will be included in the OP of the next listening club.

Please make sure your record includes a freely available stream or download. Probably your best bet is asking yourself "is this on Spotify or YouTube?" Other platforms work too, but I doubt too many winning nominations would be DatPiff exclusives.

Remember: Your record should not be certified Gold or higher by the RIAA. Here you can check the certification status of your nomination, if you're unsure.

I would like to nominate Heart Of My Own by Basia Bulat, a Polish-Canadian folk singer-songwriter. I absolutely adore her and think she is criminally underrated even here in Canada. Oddly enough, she did get a chance to do an NPR Tiny Desk Concert a number of years ago though, which was amazing.

The Youtube playlist for the album is a bit broken but both Spotify and Soundcloud have the whole thing:

I enjoy this album a lot. Not an all-time favorite, but nonetheless, one I keep going back to for its calming and at times genuinely beautiful sound.

This album means a whole lot to me, and not necessarily because it got me through rough times or that it hits me in a particularly emotional way. It's pretty simple: I just don't feel like I'll ever have worked through every moment of this album. I've done lots and lots of listens over the last few years, and it still feels so dense and like it has so many secrets for me to uncover.

That's a really special feeling when you listen to music a lot and wear things out stupidly quickly. It's an impressive achievement all its own, and it being genuinely beautiful music only adds to that core appeal.
