~music Weekly Music Tracks Thread 1 - Uplifting Earworms
Some people have mentioned they'd like to have some sort of weekly track-sharing thread, so let's have a little fun and find some good music in the process.
Everybody's got that playlist somewhere with all of your favorite earworms - the songs you put on repeat to the point where you annoy the hell out of everyone else in the room because you love them so much. Let's collect some of those earworms here and see what we can come up with.
In particular, let's go for the uplifting kind - feel good music. When the thread settles down I'll pull these all together in a nice playlist and share that here as a separate link submission.
Any time period, any genre, any style, popular, obscure, or even your own music, it's all good - just as long as it's positive energy and you can't stop spinning it. If you're on mobile, don't worry about making it into links, others can linkify it for you (and eventually, Tildes can do that automatically to make this all easier in the future). Share as many as you've got. If you've already got a playlist like this for yourself, you can share that too. ;)
Oh, and don't worry about nebulous 'standards' or if people will like it. If you like it, that's all that matters. Don't overthink it!
Edit: Almost forgot, feel free to make suggestions for the topics of upcoming share threads in the next few weeks!
I'm eternally plagued by earworms so I hesitate to even listen to some of them any more, but I'll offer up David Coffin: Roll the Old Chariot. It's a good, strong song and he's a hell of a singer, but the most uplifting thing for me is seeing that people will still come together and find joy in singing together. Look at that little kid drinking it all in!
I'll throw in Tally Hall: Banana Man and Blue October: Jump Rope at no extra charge!
Ok, that David Coffin track was pretty epic. The banana man video is creeping me out in a kinda awesome way. And Jump Rope is now stuck in my head. Well played sir. <3
I feel compelled to respond with something equally zany and excellent, so meet Steam Powered Giraffe.
The David Coffin song reminded me of another song that used to get stuck in my head constantly. It's a very different take on a similar theme - Cylob - What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor.
Haha, that was not what I was expecting!
My humble contributions. Tastes run towards the old school. ;)
I might toss in a few more later when I find the time. Enjoy!
That's quite a daunting list, but I'm trying to work through it. Many are not quite what I would call "uplifting." The Ezra Furman song led me to discover Body Was Made, which I like a lot. The Diane Coffee video is a fun one!
Ezra seems like a lost member of They Might Be Giants. Zany, fun, catchy music all around, something that's pretty rare. I've had Perpetual Motion People in rotation since it was released, doesn't get old.
I turned it into a playlist so I could lay in bed and listen :)

A few gems off the top of my head:
Mmm. Classics I'd forgotten about, thanks for the memories. :)
So many good choices for this thread from days gone by. How about...
I've had the Clapping Song stuck in my head for about four months.
I've been using Jimmy Boyd & Gayla Peevey - Kitty In A Basket as a temporary cure.
I have a hunch you'll like this one.
Oh, and we need...
oh man, yeah! It feels weird outside of the context of the full record, but you might also like Gillian Welch.
These days I mostly listen to what would be classified as 'exotica', but also a lot of 50s / 60s jazz. I used to listen to a lot of folk and stuff, but got distracted.
Somewhat related, but not really related -- you might also like Feist's latest record, Pleasure.
The uplifting requirement made this much more difficult than expected. For instance, Arcade Fire's "Wake Up" makes me incredibly happy, but is relatively downbeat in lyrical content. Anyway, here are some more cut-and-dry upbeat songs.
They lift me up, and that's all that matters for this thread - so if you have more like Wake Up that do the same for you definitely share them. Music is always subjective and personal, so when sharing between a lot of people it's best not to get hung up on details and interpretations, and just enjoy the tunes. ;)
TEMPTATION - Joey Bada$$
Perfect song for rolling the windows down on a June day.
I was worried I would ruin this song (album) last year by listening to it so much, but it's still just as fresh.
I'm surprised that neither “Conga” by Gloria Estefan, nor “The Rhythm is Magic” by Marie Claire D'Ubaldo, nor “Nah Neh Nah” by Vaya con Dios are here so far.
I can't not feel good when listening to this medley of tracks from Okami
