Tl;dr Geometry dash is what happens when you make a game with really flexible decoration visuals but a sidescroller with really simplistic mobile oriented controls like temple run and tie it to techno music and get a weird mixture of stereotypical undertale and rhythm game fanbases.

I was a kid when I found Newgrounds and Dimrain, and the accessiblity that it offered got me into a whole lot of techno back then.
