Let's hope he doesn't make it back into the White House. Maybe he'll be in jail or worse by then.

Pelosi to step aside from Dem leadership, remain in Congress

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that she will not seek a leadership position in the new Congress, making way for a new generation to steer the party after Democrats lost control of the House to Republicans in the midterm elections.

Pelosi announced in a spirited speech on the House floor that she will step aside after leading Democrats for nearly 20 years

    ...

“I will not seek reelection to Democratic leadership in the next Congress,” she said. “For me, the hour has come for a new generation to lead the Democratic caucus that I so deeply respect.”

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and Democratic Whip Jim Clyburn (S.C.) announced Thursday they will remain in Congress next year but won’t seek a leadership position, joining Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) who had announced the same decision moments before.

The surprise development clears the way for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.), the current chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, to jump several rungs up the leadership ladder to replace Pelosi in the next Congress, when Republicans will take control of the lower chamber.

For all the shit Pelosi gets from the progressive wing of the party (of which I am a part of) she was actually the ideal leader for them. Pelosi didn’t outright hate the left and was far more open minded to accept them than most centrist dems are. This is probably due to her being a progressive back in the Clinton era, who even advocated for single-payer. She’s the reason why Democrats were able to pass so much good stuff despite only having a small majority in the House.

Hakeem Jeffries would be bad for the left, considering he is far more hostile to progressives than Pelosi.

This shouldn't have been such a close race.

I'm shocked by how many people voted for Herschel Walker, who's intellectually incoherent (a nice way of saying plain stupid), pressured several women into having abortions, and held a gun against his ex-wife's head threatening to blow her brains out — but oh he claims divine redemption and now is Christian and all and against abortions and whatnot, which I guess makes him all a-okay in the eyes of evangelicals because Trump endorses him and he used to play football.

Our standards get ever lower. It seems like we're only a generation or two away from voting in Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho.

And my interest in stepping in foot in Georgia has also been greatly diminished.

At least he'd listen to the smart people in the room. More than can be said of some currently elected officials.
