This disclaimer on the Guardian article seems like one to highlight
Make sure to give time for things to settle before making conclusions, and take your info from publications that seem like they're doing their due diligence and sourcing their information from the actual documents. It's easy to get lost in hysterics.
I also think it's worth calling attention to AP's reporting on this too.
Interestingly, an earlier version of this article said the "client list" that had been speculated about on social media does not exist, but that's been removed, likely to reflect their actual review of the release.
I bet Prince Andrew was sweating buckets that he'd be on the list.
Impossible he's incapable of sweating
Can someone please explain the implications of this to me? From reading the article, it doesn't seem to me that there's anything new here. Nobody named in the article wasn't already known to have had dealings with epstein, and prince Andrew already received his slap on the wrist.
My rough understanding is that before this they were not directly named and it was a lot of "well we're pretty sure it's x, y, and z but the names are blocked out so there's not 100% proof".
This confirms that it was x, y, and z, but I agree that it fundamentally will not matter. Most people have basically already moved on from holding anyone accountable for their association's with him, or at least if they were someone they liked before, and this certainly won't lead to any legal charges.
It might help in some civil suits or maybe there's something I'm missing.
The list doesn't mean anything until it is accompanied to the role/involvement of the specific name. It is a mish-mash of Epstein associates, witnesses, people marginally involved or simply named during interrogations.
Pitchforks will be raised and each name will be a target. It's a shame that this information has been revealed like this.
I have missed seeing anything about who Jeffrey Epstein was as a person and how he came to own an island.
Fun fact, my wife and I had our honeymoon in St Thomas before the whole Epstein arrest happened. We went on a kayak tour while we were there, and it being the off season, we were the only people on the tour besides the guide. We paddled around this cove and down the rivers in St Thomas. Our tour guide was a younger stoner dude so the things he was telling us, on our honeymoon, wasn't really romantic or anything, just weird shit about hermit crabs, dolphin researchers on the island having intercourse with their subjects and other weird shit.
Then, he points over to this island, and says, the guy that owns that island is a pedophile, he's always bringing young girls there.
The tour was cool, but definitely not for a newlywed couple.
