I'm less worried about a peaceful transition than I am a muddled/confused election result like mentioned in The Atlantic article from yesterday.

My hope (and several kind users here have been kind enough to point out how wrong I could be about this) is that if the election results are clear in a Trump loss, then the people around him (secret service, congress, etc) will do what needs to be done to remove him. The constitution is very clear about when a presidents term ends and what happens if a new president isn't sworn in.

I don't doubt that, but will the results be clear? Trump is certainly doing everything he can to muddy the waters, and that confusion could easily create enough doubt for people not to act.

I think these go hand in hand. There's a perfect storm that has really made it so that he may even be able to "win" the election by staying in legal/grey areas. Through the Bush v Gore precedent and the probable 6-3 SC divide I could see it.

Also if you look at the 538 Snake Chart a lot of the tipping point states have Republican controlled legislatures that could help to suppress concerns about the vote.

If a new president isn't sworn in then the next person in line becomes president, so Speaker of the House. I should make clear that it's incredibly improbable that it reaches this point, but it is still a thing.

Here is a good article on just what it would take to get there and how unlikely it is.

Sorry I'm not heavy into US politics but from what I could see in the video he was probably just bragging about how he thinks he's going to win the election (legitimately)? I'm no one to doubt the nytimes veracity but I think it got slightly taken out of context maybe? Or am I too naive?
