PTSD is pretty interesting. Particularly the role that sympatholytics play in its initiation in hippocampal pyramidal neurons. Experiments have show that beta blockers can be used to mitigate PTSD initiating events from being consolidated to long term memory before they become a significant problem. In any case, MDMA treatment for PTSD has some mechanisms that seem to act on the neurotransmitter receptors that appear to be associated with depression. The pathways are still being mapped, but the evidence is promising, similar to Ketamine therapy for depression. Both really necessitate supervised administration, to achieve desired results with minimum administration amount. But there's great work being done to further narrow down the specific chemical imbalances that we can treat to manage these kinds of conditions.
For the record, the guest expert is talking about treatments consisting of eight hour treatments. So it’s not like a doctor will just hand you a baggie full of Molly and send you on your way....

So it’s not like a doctor will just hand you a baggie full of Molly and send you on your way. Unfortunately life just isn’t that fun. 😺
I feel bad for posting two videos in a row because I prefer to see text content here on Tildes, but to be fair, I heard this in a podcast first. It’s interesting enough to share. I was really...

I was really surprised when they claimed MDMA is likely to be approved for medicinal use within a year.
I don't mind videos, but few people will watch 75 minutes unless you give them a good reason. I wish people posting long form content would spend a few minutes and write an explanation as to why...

I wish people posting long form content would spend a few minutes and write an explanation as to why it's worth it to spend more than an hour on a question that can be answered in 2 sentences. If you think there is an interesting excerpt (like changes to medical approval), then cut that excerpt and post that. Most of us will gladly watch a few minutes video and discuss it.
Or if it's completely necessary to watch 75 minutes to discuss this, tell us why.
