Weekly US politics news and updates thread - week of January 6

TLDR: It's a justification machine. E.g. you can justify Jan 6 as a legitimate concern/ legitimate tourists/ violence was caused by antifa/ the shaman was really a pedo therefore a democrat.

Texas Medical Board director retires after uproar over his Planned Parenthood employment
As neutrally as possible: a few Texas legislators "discovered" that the medical director of the Texas Medical Board also worked at Planned Parenthood and raised enough of an uproar to force him out. They're still demanding an investigation to the Board and (so they say) considering legislation to defund it.
