Meanwhile the key news article on my BBC home page about Maduro is... Watch: Trump says Maduro copied his dancing. Did he?

I guess a $10 billion defamation lawsuit is effective at silencing even the BBC...

Trump withdraws US from key climate treaty and dozens of other groups (BBC)

US President Donald Trump has withdrawn the US from dozens of international organisations, including many that work to combat climate change.

Among the 66 groups, nearly half of them are bodies of the United Nations, including the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - a treaty that underpins all international efforts to combat global warming.

Federal Prosecutors Open Investigation Into Fed Chair Powell

The investigation escalates Mr. Trump’s long-running feud with Mr. Powell, whom the president has continually attacked for resisting his demands to slash interest rates significantly.

Putting aside the authoritarian insanity that this is, it's also incredibly stupid. Lowering rates too soon will raise inflation, which will force rates back up to the point where we will see not just the AI bubble pop. All this probably before Trump leaves office. You know how folks love to quip about how Trump bankrupted a casino? I guess he is at it again.

To be fair, he didn't bankrupt a casino, it was at least four. With experience like that, I'm sure he knows exactly what he's doing.

And that was before he suffered any age related mental decline and before he started taking dementia detection tests on a regular basis.

Former Fed chairs condemn criminal investigation into Jerome Powell

In a statement, Janet Yellen, Ben Bernanke and Alan Greenspan, along with 10 other eminent former officials, rallied behind Powell.

"This is how monetary policy is made in emerging markets with weak institutions, with highly negative consequences for inflation and the functioning of their economies more broadly," the former officials wrote.

      ....

Yellen, who served as Fed chair for a year during Trump's first term before she was replaced by Powell, said in separate comments that the probe was "extremely chilling".

"Knowing Powell as well as I do, the odds that he would have lied are zero so I do believe they're going after him because they want his seat and want him gone," Yellen told CNBC.

She suggested investors should be concerned about the development.

Former Fed Chairs say Trump is turning us into a banana republic with his politically motivated fake lawfare.

      Wow. What a timeline.
