Economically: On paper conservatism is about limiting the growth of government which is a good thing when we're talking about businesses and markets. IMO government should only intervene (legislate markets) when there is an unchecked imbalance that the markets will not correct.
However conservatism nowadays is about dismantling government regardless of whether the policies being dismantled are effective/positive or not. In today's rhetoric all government = bad which is tragically skewed from the original ideals of conservatism.
So TL;DR on economics: they could have solid governing principles to offer but the current trend of thought is cancerous at best.
