tomorrow I'm headed to Winnemucca, Nevada, where I'll be watching the eclipse on Saturday morning. that was the closest spot to where I live (Seattle) that wouldn't be likely to be overcast. the Oregon coast and Crater Lake were also possible (and Crater Lake would have been incredible) but I didn't trust the weather.
Crater Lake would have been absolutely incredible but also I'm sure would have been a madhouse. Super jealous that you are at least trying to get to clear weather, hopefully it is cleared up on...

Hope the weather is clear for you down south! I'm stuck in Seattle for the weekend so I'm looking forward to watching the cloudy skies get a bit darker than usual haha

after the one in April, the next total eclipse visible from the continental US isn't until 2045. I'm expecting news of Saturday's eclipse to generate a surge of interest and probably sell out everywhere where the April one will be visible.
Unfortunately for me, it looks like all the places that are manageable to travel to will be overcast. Hopefully others are able to get a good look at it. The last big one was a life-changer for me!

I'll just catch the other Total Eclipse in six months, it's wild that we are getting two of these in North America so close to one another.

Same. I just learned about this. I’m unemployed at the moment and would absolutely drive 8 hours both ways Friday and Saturday to see this at 9:20am.
