Starship is the 'Next Generation' ship that is both second stage and reusable launch vehicle. It will sit on top of the Super Heavy lifter for orbital insertion. They are hoping to be able to have a launch to orbit capacity of 150,000 kg, which is enormous.
As for this test -
SpaceX: “The purpose of today’s test was to pressurize systems to the max, so the outcome was not completely unexpected. There were no injuries, nor is this a serious setback.”
It sounds like they will focus on the Mk2 (Being built in Florida) and the Boca Chica site where this one is will move on to Mk3 - the flight ready version of this iteration.

Was this the one that was supposed to carry people? I don't know the model names.

I think the people carrying one is the Crew Dragon, the Starship is a big model meant to deliver larger payloads.
I think long term starship is intended to carry humans to Mars.
