Well, I finally lost my first game of fantasy this year. I was not expecting my team to be particularly good, but that's how it goes sometimes!

I picked up Maye on the waivers and started him over Nix. That was even the choice the little auto-roster button wanted as well. Boy, that was a mistake ... Nix blew up for 41 points, lol. I lost by less than 5 points.

I did, however, get to finally catch a Patriots game! This Maye kid is looking more and more like the real deal. I'm hopeful for us in the future!

Taking a page from the old Bill Simmons book, I'd like to share my "running diary" for the Broncos game. These are all real texts with friends and family.

4:28 pm est (me, to my dad): This is the most undisciplined team in football.

5:14 pm. (Friend): How's it going over there?

5:15 pm (me): Starting to hate watch this team. They are no fun.

5:16 pm (friend): They need to shake it up.

5:16 pm (me): I'm officially out on Nix. He doesn't have it.

5:20 pm (friend): the goal line stand was a travesty. GIVE THE BALL TO DOBBINS!

5:20 pm (me to friend): why run the ball when you can throw the 15th screen of the game?

5:21 pm (me to dad): If I have to watch another fucking screen...

5:21 pm (dad, clueless): I'm just watching Denver. I don't know why they're sucking today.

5:23 pm (me to dad): I think they just suck. The defense is great, but undisciplined. They offense is atrocious. No creativity. Nix has happy feet and has no accuracy over 15 yards. Run game is inconsistent. I don't like watching this team.

5:30 (dad): Nix has regressed imo

    5:54 pm (friend): Ooooohh boy.

6:04 pm (friend): This has been disgusting. Who do you blame here?

6:07 pm (me to friend) 60-40 Payton/Nix. Awful play calling and discipline, but Nix never capitalizes on the opportunities he gets. I think part of it is because he can't get in a rhythm due to the constant number of screens, but the screens are because they can't trust Nix. It's a good old fashioned negative feedback loop.

6:07 (friend): Like this is really sad.

    [No messages, no jinx]

7:13 (dad, trying to jinx): R u watching?

    7:25 (me to both): omfg

    7:25 (friend): holy shit.

    [Jinx ensues]

7:32 (me to friend): what a load of horseshit

7:32 (friend): that roughing call was insanity

7:32 (me): not as bad as the PI

7:33 (me to dad): I want to be mad at the refs, but this team dropped two interceptions and has no fucking discipline. [Editor's note: I think you made your point, dude]

    7:33 (dad): 🖕Vance Joseph.

    7:33 (dad): and Sean Payton

7:38 (friend): Aint no way he makes this kick

    7:38 (dad) fuck me too

7:38 (me to dad): yeah, so like I was saying, we got this. Never a doubt

7:38 (friend): easy win. Do you Bolieve?

7:38 (me to friend): I BOLIEVE

7:39 (me to friend) I need to delete some messages.

The few long pass plays the Broncos did before the 4th quarter where Bo just slightly overthrew the ball were rough, because they happened last week too. The opportunities were there, but the ball was just a few yards too far downfield. But it’s also hard for me to tell if that’s a bad pass or if the WR slowed down or didn’t have the burst out of a cut that Bo was expecting. I’d have to find an all 22 cast or something.

I think probably the most amazing thing about this season is how for like the last 5 or 6 weeks, I have seen plays that have never been ran before in the NFL, this week the Lions ran a double pitch option. If you told someone from the 90's this play would be run in the NFL their head would explode, literally and actually blow up.

This has been true for college as well lately, Louisville had 3 QB's on the field for one play in the first half against FSU.

But I've seen your classic I formations as well. It seems like the game is evolving weekly, but there is still room for traditional lines of thought. I find it to be a very exciting time in American football from this perspective.

Yes, the qb runs the option with the running back, and if he pitches to the running back, the running back can then continue the option with a wide receiver. On this play, both pitches were made...

I'm beginning to think it's me that's cursed? Any team I like is doomed to fail. So if anyone would like me to tank a rival team by becoming a fan, let me know!

Did anyone watch the Broncos game?

I cannot believe they pulled it off. It’s gotta be a failure on the defense more than it was success on the Broncos side, and I think literally cards fell perfectly for them to be able to win.

No way they have a shot without the interception the Broncos defense got (or at least, would’ve required an onside kick). Which…a pass play was a bold call by the Giants.

    What a game tho

yeh that pass play from the Giants at the end was an absolutely terrible call. One of the worst I've seen all year and I'm a Gator fan.

Your token Panthers fan here, busy this week so not much time:

3 in streak! Didn't screw it up! Old era Panthers would have found a way to give the Jets their first win. We head a steady command despite the Jets D giving us fits all game.

This game was cathartic to silence all the "we should have drafted Fields" crowd because he looked like garbage.

I won't be able to watch the Bills game, but I don't feel optimistic. I won't be sad if we lose because they are a team that should be better than us. It'll all be on our run fame, especially if Bryce is out because of his ankle.
