Crazy that the Blazers are going to have to build around Scoot Henderson now. Seems HEAT and Nets are places of most interest
It's for the best for both parties. Portland with Lillard is just going to be in that limbo zone where Lillard alone is too good for Portland to really tank if he's playing, but with the way the roster is constructed, their limited assets, and the salary cap, their ceiling is going to be a first round exit in the playoffs.
Lillard can try to win before he starts to decline, and Portland can start tanking for real and have the assets from the trade so they can try and rebuild a title contender.
It seems like Miami and Brooklyn are his top two desired destinations. It’ll be interesting to see what it takes to make a trade happen!
It’ll be interesting to see how willing the Trail Blazers are to actually send Dame to one of his preferred locations/if Dame’s camp can scare off other suitors enough that offers don’t come in above whatever is being offered by teams he actually wants to go to.
After hearing about Lillard buying a car dealership in the area a few years back, I figured that was an indication he was really committed to Portland. Guess it goes to show how things can change when it comes to player-team negotiations.
