Relative to one year ago, getting a first back for Karlsson is a big win. But it came late summer, after most teams had already spent their meagre cap room elsewhere. Dealing him now is dumb. And that's reflected in the crap the Sharks had to take back in return.

Go into the draft telling everyone you'll retain 50% and to put their best foot forward and you do much better.

As a Pens fan, I'm mostly happy with the move. Protecting the 1st round pick was a good move as well. However, I am a little worried about the defense in front of Jarry.

Hopefully, Hoffman stays in San Jose a little longer than he did last time.
