I've been trying to follow the races at the Nurburgring this year because there's a sim racing youtuber I watch, Steve Brown aka Super GT, who's been participating in these races. Bilstein put together a team of mostly YouTubers with limited (but some) real racing experience, and they're taking it fairly seriously, which is cool to see. They're competing in the GT4 class (Team Bilstein by Black Falcon) and it seems for the 24h they've gotten Manuel Metzger, former overall winner of the Nurburgring 24h, on the team.
Can't say I've heard of him before, but good for them. They're living the sim-racers dream by being sponsored to compete at the N24! I haven't been following the VLN for the last few years but I'm guessing that's where they've been competing otherwise?
Yep. Living the dream alright.
Sadly SuperGT was disqualified from qualifying due to some speeding but hopefully the team can get a good result!
Speeding? How did that come about?
From a comment on the Reddit thread:
Code 60 was likely in place due to people on the track so it's taken very seriously.
License revoked? Ouch. Sounds like the dream is dead for a while.
