HA! This mirrors my own experience perfectly. I always assumed Czech climbers we just STRONG!!! The number of times I've spoken with Czech climbers where they gave my current project an "eh" is so overwhelming I can't believe I'd never made the connection. My first experience with it was in Groningen where a Czech climber joined us on Excalibur and proceeded to on-sight the 7c route we were working and return with a little shrug and laugh that it was a good warm up. I mean the dude was strong!

Then in Spain we were climbing at Monserrat near Barcelona when a group of Czech guys suggested a few routes we might enjoy that would make for a decent warm up. Again, we found ourselves struggling for about an hour to figure out if the nearly featureless wall was indeed the route they had been referencing. Two days later we ran into them again and sure enough the route we termed "glass wall" had indeed been their "warm up" route.

Then again, I was climbing in Squamish in BC where a Czech couple we had been bouldering with (on what I would call an approachable level of boulder, v5-v7) told us about a nice route on the grand wall that would give our arms a break on a rest day away from bouldering. The ensuing route the next day can only be described as an absolute redline. We took the next two days off to go enjoy the Howe Sound we were so beat.

So I guess the lesson is, if you ever meet a Czech person and they suggest a "mellow" route. Run away or really mentally prepare. Great video share!

I'm a casual boulderer and I was watching around the 13:00 minute mark and thought crack climbing doesn't look fun at all, jamming my hand into the rock just feels like I'm going to mess up my hand and finger bones if I slip and all my weight goes on my jammed hand.

Yeah, I imagine you could really really mess yourself up if you did something wrong and fell with a limb trapped. And every video I watch with the Wide Boyz also makes crack climbing look more and more like an exercise in masochism too... even their collabs. E.g. Pete's last collab with STORROR looked genuinely agonizing.
