    It always amazes me that things we clearly acknowledged as vices a few decades ago, are sanitzed, re-commodified and slowly make a comeback as something "non harmful" (as long as it comes with a...

    It always amazes me that things we clearly acknowledged as vices a few decades ago, are sanitzed, re-commodified and slowly make a comeback as something "non harmful" (as long as it comes with a nice slogan like 'know your limit and play within it'). It's that way with gambling and there are many more people caught in mega debt than will ever admit it - just as Vegas will never report the number of gambling related suicides because it's bad for business. When will we learn that a vice is a vice no matter how much lipstick we put on it?

      I don’t know if there has been a real shift in perceptions that has made a big difference. The big factor is the 2018 Supreme Court case that made it legal.

    I find it kind of odd that the article is all about the dangers of sports betting, but it includes links directly to the sites that helped get the subject of the article addicted in the first place.
