      I've read that he gets a big payout from Puma every time he breaks the record, so he's incentivised to do it routinely. Sounds like either he's smart enough to get a deal like that in place or has...

      I've read that he gets a big payout from Puma every time he breaks the record, so he's incentivised to do it routinely. Sounds like either he's smart enough to get a deal like that in place or has some good people around him. I don't think I've ever known the name of another pole vaulter, it's quite incredible how he's managed to make an impression on the public consciousness.

        Edit: What I don't like about inching up is the fact no one knows when their absolute prime is. Will he have gotten his personal best to be the world record before he can no longer get his best? How mad is he going to be when his world record is broken by someone in a decade, but even that didn't beat his personal best? Why not go out and give 100% each time? Not to mention the possibility of injury ending his career short.
