I was just having a conversation with a friend last night about Kobe vs. Lebron after watching Lebron beat Kobe's scoring record. I told him that while Lebron is probably the better player, Kobe was still something special. His work ethic and tenacity was something else... Case in point, him nailing two free-throws after tearing his achilles tendon.
Going out like that with his daughter, who he was trying to mentor into being a great player, plus the other 6 passengers on board... What a tragedy.

His influence was so much greater than just on the court. If anyone here also speaks Italian just take a look at this interview he did with Radio DeeJay a few years ago. This will definitely leave a permanent mark on the NBA and the teams, Mark Cuban has already started it with retiring 24 for the Mavs I wonder what other owners will pay tribute to him.
This is one of the more surreal headlines I have read recently. Holy shit. Totally unexpected and out of the blue, and very young. RIP Kobe.
According to news reports one of his daughters (Gianna, 13) was onboard as well.
Very sad and tragic.
RIP
She was his pride and joy. There were so many videos the last few years of him coaching her and you could tell how much fulfillment he got out of it.

This is chillingly unbelievable!
I can swear the earth just shook in agony.
