That said, sports besides the UFC have pretty much resumed. UFC was just the first to have a go, so they seemed to have taken the brunt of the criticism. From what I can tell, they seem to being doing it as "right" as can be done.

UFC also had a hell of a lot less logistics to worry about than all the other major sports, which have dozens of teams to manage, each with dozens of players and coaching staff that typically travel to new cities every week. So it's not really surprising that UFC was able to manage to find a workable solution so quickly when the other sports weren't... which makes Dana putting out a video patting himself on the back like this is all the more cringeworthy, IMO. I love mixed martial arts, but I seriously hate that Dana White and Joe Rogan are the defacto spokespeople for the sport these days. They're both such egotistical, moronic, moneygrubbing douchebags. :/

The NFC East to see if one of the shitshow teams in it can actually make the playoffs with an overall losing record.

Due to the way the playoffs are structured no matter the team that wins the NFC East division title, they will have an overall record that is worse than the teams in the "wildcard" positions that barely made the playoffs. I'm specifically watching the Dallas and Washington teams as those are the two which I have personal connections, but overall I'm just hoping for a losing team from this division to make the playoffs just for the shits-and-giggles of it all.

For me the NFL tends to only be exciting a few times a year; at the start to see how new players, coaches, and strategies are working and at the end of the year when the games that determine who goes to the playoffs (and all of the various scenarios of how an underdog can make it through). The middle of the season tends to be boring and this year's utter failure by the NFL to manage the season with nearly every team having some sort of COVID related reschedule/setback only exacerbated this fact.

One of my neighbors is a Washington fan, and I'd heard him argue (loudly!) since week 2 with another of my neighbors - 49ers fan - that they would make it to 6 wins. Of course, now he finds every reason he can to bring up them being atop the table in the division, especially since they beat the Niners, lol.

Sounds about right. My father is from DC and a diehard Washington fan, I'm from Dallas so by the law of "go local sports team" I'm a Cowboys fan, plus it adds a little father/son rivalry to the mix. In reality I root for both teams as I like both, but root for "mine" when they're playing Washington and try to get together with my father to watch those games at a Washington fan bar every year. This year being the exception...

Tomorrow I'll have all the updated playoff scenarios to see what outrageous loops can be made to fantasize about underdog teams making it to the post season.

Patriots, Vikings and Football Team are all 6-8. Patriots have been eliminated from the playoffs. Vikings have a 2% chance of making it in. Meanwhile, the Football Team has a 75% chance of making it to the playoffs.

This is something I've never liked/totally understood about American pro sports. From what I've been told, the Browns ownership had pretty much not really invested in the team for decades and was just milking the franchise... so why was anyone patronizing them? Why would anyone spend money to support them? It's one thing to be resigned to losing or struggling every year, but were fans just resigned to being fleeced too? And what's responsible for the recent change in fortunes?

The last 40 or 50 years have been really rough for Northeast Ohio in ways that are a lot more extensive than the Browns or really even sports in general. It was never really affluent the way other big cities were, but you could get a job doing shitty work only tough people could do and make enough to buy a small house with 2 bedrooms and a car... And for the people who chose to do that, it was really good. That era sort of coincided with the era when the Browns were decent. So I guess thinking the Browns could be good again was like thinking Cleveland or Akron or Youngstown could be nice again. We know better: people a lot bigger and smarter than us sold us down the river, in both economics and sports, i guess... But it's hard to give up on it.

        So "Go Browns".

If I were to pick one thing the front office us doing better, it's drafting linemen instead of Johnny Football every year.

It also helps to have a front office and coaching staff on the same page. So often the shotgun marriages of GMs and coaches past meant that players were constantly square pegs being forced into round holes and turning over with every organizational change. Props to Kevin Stefanski for lacking the ego and fitting the system to his players strengths.

Also nice to see another Browns fan on here. Go Browns!
