To those unfamiliar with Deathmatch Pro-Wrestling

It is pro-wrestling like WWE/WWF but extremely graphic and bloody. this is 100% NSFW material so viewer discretion is advised.

To those who are unsure if they would be interested in a documentary like this, here is a 10 minute preview of the documentary that was released in March this year.

The Art of DeathMatch Wrestling [NSFW]

If you are open minded to the idea of pro wrestling as a form of art you may find something in this documentary you enjoy and get a peak into a sub-culture that is truly something different and fascinating.

I figured I'd watch about a minute of the preview and then nope out. Instead I'm utterly transfixed, I had no idea that this was a thing. I still don't have any desire to watch the actual thing (a match), but listening to the people who participate talk about their reasons and their excitement is just crazy. So far outside my normal entertainment sphere.

Pro Wrestling has always been a fascinating creature to me. No one, for the most part, believes that it is real anymore so the appeal is now 100% a performance art. But it is a performance art that actively and purposely damages the performers, both deathmatch and regular pro wrestlers.

It's like if you made a ballet performance focused completely around the damage and pain the ballerinas subject themselves to so they can preform En Pointe and other difficult dance techniques. It's wild. At the end of the day they are all masochistic artists trying to create something they see as beautiful while riding the high that comes with its creation. It's not for everyone, but its interesting all the same.
