What did you do this weekend?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their weekend. Did you make any plans? Take a trip? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
I played a bunch of Stardew Valley with my wife, and the highlight is us now having matching trash-can hats. We have a really good rhythm together where we will play a day ingame and then take a 10 minute break to do a small chore, like doing the dishes or cleaning a toilet. It's nice and our home now looks great!
It was a much-needed break after the week preceding, I started looking for a job again and I find the experience so tiresome. I have a few good leads though!
Digital housekeeping and family time.
I swapped my YouTube channel to my Google account to only have one account, instead of my old "brand" account and the Google one.
I deleted my 11-year-old Reddit account after moving my subs to the new one. I did this because I had somebody respond to a 6-year-old comment I'd made. It made me queasy to think somebody could continue a conversation from that far back, and I didn't want to wind up on the defensive for some bad takes I've since changed my stance on or something. I didn't want to delete any comments because I tend to be more active in support-related subreddits, and have been foiled by people doing that in the past. It felt like I was killing a part of myself before doing it, but it's also a new world.
On Sunday I hung out with my brother and his wife. I helped my brother get custom firmware on his 3DS and showed him the wide world of 3DS piracy and rom injections. We didn't even watch the super bowl, not for any reason, we were just chilling at their place while my brother was roasting a duck with a bunch of veggies (potato, zucchini, carrot). The duck came out nice, covered in herbs de Provence and paprika with an apple halved and unceremoniously shoved up its back end. He also made a cucumber mint lemonade, and I brought a half gallon of agua de jamaica, which works surprisingly well anywhere cranberry sauce would.
Whoa! I thought all things were locked after 6-12 months. Is that sub-specific or something?
Apparently in October they made it possible for communities to turn off archiving. It's up to each subreddit make the change.
Agility trial weekend! I took both dogs (chi mix Jean and australian shepherd Loki).
Jean did training in the ring. Or rather, she ignored me and ran around like a dingus. No more trials for her until she has better recall and can do a course without treats, haha.
Loki did amazing! I feel like we have a good rhythm down and are really solid in the ring now. We had two out of four qualifying scores, one of them a perfect score, and he earned his first title. Here’s a video of our perfect run: https://youtu.be/W6MxJHMFFgQ
