I’m 3/4’s of the way through an Intro to Statistics class and I couldn’t be happier because I’m not a big statistics guy

Scrubbed my shower. Going to get a dehumidifier to try and head off the mold issue.

I started working under this new AI org at work (against my will) and the work is just as mind-numbing and repetitive as I expected. The org itself is in a worse state than I thought. Granted it's only existed for ~3 months but it is just such a shit-show. Everything changes every day, all the documentation is AI-generated and always outdated due to the previous point, leadership have no answers to any question from employees, and there is no path for career growth.

The lack of career growth in this org scares me quite a bit. It's a very flat org structure where engineers and managers-turned-engineers all do the same work, regardless of their seniority. Everyone works independently, despite being organized into teams and sub-teams called pods. There's no "projects" that you work on end-to-end to deliver. However, despite this, our official career expectations guidance (on which our performance will be evaluated) mentions that we need to effectively demonstrate we can work within a team and own projects end-to-end and deliver them in a timely manner. So I can only imagine our performance reviews just being shit. I'd rant more but I'm a bit too emotional still to put my thoughts into a coherent paragraph that isn't just laced with expletives.

So with the above, I've started doing my research on what I'd need to do to prepare for interviews. Due to AI, interviews for software engineers have changed quite a bit within the last year. Besides work stuff, I've been working on my home server upgrade. I'm currently waiting on my HBA card to arrive in the mail so my enterprise-grade drives could be used with my consumer hardware. I've also been making progress on improving my diet, cutting down on my snacking and getting consistent again in closing my Apple Watch rings.
