Talk to me about one of your passions
Open ended thread. Talk to me about anything that you're so passionate about that you could keep going all day. Maybe also tell me how you got into it.

I love Morrowind. I love that the world feels lived in, like it was going long before you arrived. I like that it has real history in its books and conversations. I like that the factions are actually at odds with each other to the point that you can't just join them all, and some hate you enough that they'd never even consider you as a member. I appreciate that the common foodstuffs and ingredients even have stories behind them. I dig the idea of kwama. I really dig that the Daedric runes on the box art are letters from an alphabet that actually spell out something meaningful. It tickles my fancy that stories and histories are coloured in by the biases of the people who pass on and retell them, so you can't really fully trust any single account. There are very few people in the game world who would offer the sort of unbiased information you'd take for granted from the average NPC in more modern RPGs.
I also love tanks and planes - the weirder, the better. People talk about the overrated German ones all the time, and it's boring boring boring. Give me some bizarre KV prototypes or that mindboggling idea some Frenchman had that didn't work out. It was War Thunder that was probably primarily responsible for getting me into tanks, but a relative got me a great book about them by DK and the Tank Museum, and I haven't been able to clam up about them since.
Oh, and I love puddings! Sticky toffee, cheesecake, bread pudding, strudel...I think bread pudding might be the best of the lot. I have such a sweet tooth. I first tasted bread pudding at King Ludwig's Beerhall in Stanley, HK. It was in an old colonial-era building that I think used to be a barracks, and we sat at one of the outdoor veranda tables to look across the bay as we scarfed down food from the buffet. Thank goodness I had the metabolism to just absorb stuff harmlessly, because I could not eat like that nowadays.
StarCraft Brood War is still well and alive in the e-sports scene. There are still regular seasonal tournaments going on with the best Brood War players in the world and there are still crazy things happening. It's still very popular in Korean PC Bangs and is still watched a lot on their TV, too. New players are rising, old players retiring and it now seems to be going on forever. Some leagues started as early as 1999 and while those generally don't exist anymore, there are still professionally organized tournaments that are also televised. You just need to take a glance at the liquipedia Brood War overview page to realize what a rich history this game has. You have players like Flash who're gods at the game and they still dissect their enemies and beat them in a seemingly easy manner. And last season Flash just casually announced that he's switching to the Random race for the tournament, something that's an absolutely insane thing to do at this level. Those players have thousands upon thousands of matches in their respective races, and he just plays all three now (it's unlikely he continues as Random going forward and probably switches back to Terran). There are videos of other StarCraft Pros reacting to his Random play.
And all of that doesn't even scratch the tip of the ice berg. You have things like the Bonjwas, Jaedong, Flash's rival, players like )ToT(Mondragon who dominated the non-Korean scene and beat a few Korean players, and I could go on and on and on and on....
In case I sucked anyone in this rabbit hole: the teamliquid Brood War forums are doing just fine and the next season of the AfreecaTV Starleague is about to start in 11 days. There are popular community members that will cast it in English for the foreigner watchers.
I'm not sure I have strong passions about anything. I find hard to keep enthusiasm about things. The possible exception is food. I love all kinds of food. When I travel I do not make plans for museums or sightseeing, everything revolves around where I will find great food I cannot find elsewhere. I mean I like the other stuff too, but food to me will always be the main event.
