Xwayland seems too finicky to be anything more than a last-ditch effort at compatibility.

What’s the source of issues? Wayland design flaws? DE implementation issues? xWayland bugs? Or application bugs?

KDE has been doing some sort of work. On my rolling distro, Plasma stuff has been having on and off minor breakages even on X11. Activities broke with one of the recent majors IIRC.

          Plasma panels not working properly.

Somewhat tangential, but the X.Org foundation (also responsible for Wayland) joined the Fediverse recently.

I'm honestly both amazed and saddened that it's taken so long to get HDR on Linux. If anyone knows more about what's been blocking this I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say.

From what I gather, there's just a lot of work that was implemented on the X side in the X server that now needs a lot of plumbing work in the kernel to make it work on the Wayland side.
