I am one of the many reddit refugees who joined Tildes recently. I am participating in the black out, but I wanted to log in to cancel my premium membership today. The site is completely broken, and downdetector has many reports.
I am not a conspiracy type person, but I can't help but think it might be on purpose. If I were an admin, it would be easy to claim the site is "broken" than to keep the word spreading about the protest.
So far this site is so refreshing, it reminds me of what reddit used to be!
Edit: Looks like it is back up again, I was able to cancel my subscription.
It's also possible the blackout has caused the opposite effect and more users are on it, it might also be the users doing a specific thing that isn't normally done as often and high batches like...

You know what? I never even considered malicious actors, but considering how pissed and technically inclined many legacy redditors are, that is a distinct possibility!

I wonder if multiple iterations/instances of this type of thing (querying reddit for all the subreddits and their status) is creating additional load?
