I'm thinking if you want reddit to feel the most pain, when the API's die at the end of the month. if you VPN'ed into the EU and made a 'right to be forgotten' request, but a few thousand or more users at the same time did the same thing.

Is there a penalty they would have to pay if they can't complete it with in a certain time?

Personally I want to make them work to remove my content. I'm not doing work for free :)

Does VPN work for this? They have years of data on me, they know where I'm from.. I just sent the request without VPN hoping they wouldn't notice or care that my European country is not actually...

Even if you wanted to delete everything on Reddit using a script, you'd have to request this data anyway. See https://rentry.co/unreddit

I could be wrong though, which was why I was asking the question.

You can’t remove your comments on your own in subreddits that are set to private, in other words there’s no access for your account. So that is a big difference if you attempt to do this with a script while the blackout is happening.

When you ask for the data from reddit, you also get a link so you can check if it was all removed afterwards.

Yes, the ones that were made in private subreddits are no longer on the user page. But the moment the subreddits are made public, you get those comments back.

Nope! I was searching a while back for some stuff I’d posted to a now-private subreddit (posts and comments both) and none of it was there in my profile.

I decided to remove all of my comments ahead of the blackout, except for those that may have been useful for future readers. I may remove those as well at some point too, depending on how things go at Reddit over the next few weeks.

Im using Apollo while I still can but I only see my comments in communities I either moderate or are not participating in the blackout. Maybe I just stick to my communities though… but that has to be super unlikely, Incant find my comments from r/Europe for example!
