Doesn't seem like if someone is searching for Emma Watson the Google algorithm is putting it on the front page.

Also, odd that the article includes the names and URL for these sites that they're so against. Like Mac looking for those disgusting ex girlfriend sites except they're actually giving out that info!

I mean, for the record, I'm against deep fake porn and these sites, skeevy, but the article reads like Google is keeping the trove in the back of their windowless van and luring kids over to look at it.

If I understand correctly, the author thinks that Google should not serve up these sites because of the ethical (and legal?) problems with the content. Internet sophisticates can find things on the deep web but most people are dependent on mainstream search engines. This stuff is not comparable to searching for Only Fans. The faces in this material are taken from people without their knowledge or consent. The search is for nonconsensual content. The author wants google to treat it like child porn.

I got that but the issue is, which the author also brings up, is that 'deep fake porn' isn't illegal everywhere. Google treats child porn like it does because child porn is illegal pretty much...

Google treats child porn like it does because child porn is illegal pretty much everywhere.

I may not agree with deep fake sites but I also don't want Google to become the arbiter of good taste. If the author wants this stuff off Google, they should put pressure on lawmakers. Not Google.
