My phone just won't let me click things once anymore

I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and has found a solution. I have turned on visibility of taps/clicks, and I've also turned up screen sensitivity. I've turned off all animations. I've restarted it. I've installed the most recent update. Nothing changed it. I can see it registering my taps with the visibility feature, but it won't do anything the first time I tap.

My phone is an Galaxy A52. I don't have a screen protector.

What's happening is a lot of times (more than half) I will click something, and it won't register. So I have to click again. Usually it's only twice, but sometimes it can be up around five times before it will register that I've clicked the screen. This also sometimes happens when I'm scrolling a webpage, so it's like scroll, scroll, try to scroll but it gets stuck, scroll, etc.

It happens pretty much everywhere, in every app, except the keyboard letters and numbers (thank god). But even the word suggestions sometimes need to be clicked more than once.

I'm SO sick of it. I've looked as much as possible to find a similar situation with a fix, and I can't find one. Does anyone know what else I can do?

Have you tried a power cycle or a factory reset? If it still gives you that issue from a fresh setup, that implies hardware trouble.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S22, so your mileage may vary but it has a feature which cycles through all the sensors/blocks(screen, microphone, wifi, 5g etc) and checks them for any defects. One of those is where you have to click on boxes on the screen. Might want to check if the issue you're experiencing is all across the screen or any particular areas.

Edit: You might already have checked there, but samsung members app is generally a good source for finding people with similar issues.

I checked and did the screen test, everything is working fine according to that. I'll check around the members app, ty.

Messing with that setting only made things worse. I set it on the shortest time, which was 0.1 seconds, but that's too long. Thanks though, I hadn't thought to mess with it. Am I just too quick...

Am I just too quick with my tapping? I can't be faster than a computer's ability to register a tap.. right?

You are definitely not faster than it can read. You should keep fiddling with settings. Playing with my settings, I needed to turn the feature off entirely to feel right because .1 seconds was far...

It sounds like a different problem to yours, but figured I'd share my experience in case there's something helpful in it.

i notice lagging often when trying to open a link, tapping multiple time before it opens, or trying to type on my keyboard, with a few second delay between key input and then a bunch of letters appearing. Sometimes even jittery scrolling on websites.

It's not a consistent problem, and seems to happen randomly.

Ive try closing all apps and also restarting phone, neither of which has completely / immediately resolved the lagging. Haven't found a solution, just living with it for now.

Yes, I experience all of that, too! But those are things I've learned to live with. I'd always figured it was the browser/app that was the issue. Maybe I should just get a different kind of phone...

It's pushing me to want a new phone but this one still works well otherwise :/
