I got one for my living room tv forever ago and have been happy with it. It's obviously letting me get to all my streaming services and keep things like adblockers working. I have a wireless 60% keyboard and should get a wireless mouse for it, while also using the unified remote app to control it from my phone if needed.

It's not a gaming machine, but it can run lower spec stuff just fine (played SFV ranked on it for quite some time with the game on low graphics mode, most of what I play on it is far less demanding.), it connects to the internet fine, it lets me code on it fine, etc.

Personally, my plan is to do this for all future tvs (barring some centralized server setup) because it's just better than a cable box or roku, but it's also more expensive.

I've also got a GPD Pocket 3 as my laptop, so i'm always keeping an eye on the smaller space stuff. So far to my knowledge minisforums haven't stepped in that area, and the Pocket 4 has no information on it yet outside a vague rumor, but i'm hoping we can continue to get such products.

Edit- To be clear I think the one I got is the "venus" series equivalent (just eyeballing it visually). I see they've got higher spec stuff now and some coming out so i've no idea how good that is.

Back when I bought, minisforum had some minor scandal. I understood it to be that they used cheap thermal paste on their high end machines and there were more failures than expected. I havent had any issues , software or hardware related

Similar experience with gaming too. Old games run great, I wouldnt play anything too taxing though. Ive been able to run a large civ5 game without much degradation.

I was a little worried about putting a machine from a relatively unknown manufacturer on my network but I've never noticed anything suspicious in my casual review of that machines traffic

I can't speak to their current offerings and competition but my experience has been positive

Sounds promising. I don't plan to do anything too taxing in terms of gaming, mostly emulating and playing AA/indie games. I'll definitely wait a couple of months after the unveiling to see if...
