I spent longer than I probably should have just browsing around and yeah, it seems like a nice community. Some things people posted gave me that "LinkedIn uncanny valley" vibe, but none of it was super overtly weird or fake.
Online communities about creating things and sharing them with others are generally funner and kinder to participate in than pretty much all other types of online communities, so it's cool to learn about a new one. We need more of these. It really should have been the default paradigm for social media, but that ship seems to have sailed...

I've tried so many times to "get into" LinkedIn. I'm really passionate about what I do, so having a platform to talk about it and discuss it is so provocative. But it really is not an environment where I feel like I can use my own voice. I've found myself slipping into that uncanny valley way of communicating many times. And the networking aspect just feels so transactional and circle-jerky without acknowledging it's a circle-jerk that I can never stick around very long. It becomes too nauseating.
