    As my browser already is capable of making bookmarks, can anyone enlighten me what the added benefit is of having publically shared bookmarks?

      Well, I think you kind of answered your own question a little. Having them publicly shared means you can easily share them with other people! Of course if you want private bookmarks you can save...

Of course if you want private bookmarks you can save them via your browser. Also its nice that at least with firefox sync I can access my bookmarks across all my instances of firefox...until I use a computer where I am not logged in to firefox, and I really don't want to either, being able to access bookmarks without logging in to my firefox account can be really helpful. Having a nice UI helps a lot for organizing

      I just thought of another reason while scrolling through the linked page, it can act as a link aggregator and with the use of tags you can find new sites and resources
