I tried to find it some years ago to host my own and couldn't. They probably needs to keep it private also to prevent companies from finding ways to block it. IIRC, on their Tumblr it's mentioned that they keep rotating newspaper paid subscriptions to be able to scrape the whole content, unlike Internet Archive.

Sorry, I meant the original 2023 "doxing investigation". He argues it was just out of curiosity, which could be true. But now that FBI is after the site owner, I'm sure they are pretty annoyed this info is more easily available and require no OSINT, just Google.

I'm probably gonna be alone on this, but what did the author expect after writing a whole investigation trying to dox their identity? I'm of course annoyed that my bandwidth could be used for this purpose. But archive.today is a great service that we get basically for free, but lives on the verge of legality. Its admin would have their live destroyed if their info leaks, so what's the point of the investigation?

It's so interesting how fast you can build tolerance to spicy food and start craving it if you insist a bit. I used to not be able to tolerate even Tabasco and the first time I tried Buldak, the much less spicy cheese flavored version, I thought it was insane someone could enjoy that. Now I'm watching the TikTok video on the article and thinking I should probably have that for lunch today.

I always loved magazines. Like, real paper magazines. Lately I realized that I can find digital versions or scans somewhat easily and it sparked a new obsession. I'm weird, I know. But there are so many beautifully designed magazines, such as the Japanese travel-related Transit or the men's lifestyle Brutus. Even their websites are beautiful and worth visiting. There's also this independent Brazilian retro gaming magazine called Jogo Véio that is almost like a love letter to the classic video game magazines.

I think I've been craving creativity lately, in a World of AI slop and "content" creators. So any magazines you like? What do you like about them?

I've been using NewsBlur since Google killed Google Reader. I think it's pretty much what it would be nowadays if Google had not killed it. A few nice features added, like newsletters or fetching full feed for the ones that don't offer it, but not super modern, AI-hyped, etc.

More recently, I connected it to Reeder Classic (pre-subscription version) on Mac and iPhone. But they have their own app and web version as well.

Always wondered how big this issue is outside of US. I imagine this is completely illegal in Europe, I think I receive significantly less spam after GDPR. But a few years back recruiters would call me a lot and one told me they got my number from one of these brokers that offered a way of matching data with LinkedIn profiles.

    Some of my favorite "hacks":

    • MINIX NEO P3 100W Turbo for charging all my devices. It's tiny, no need for travel adapter, and 100W is enough power for everything, including a Notebook via USB-C.
    • Anker 633 power bank is super convenient, not having to use the cables that tangle and often break. Just a bit heavy, so consider a lighter one if you don't need all the 10,000mAh.
    • I have super slim toiletry bag, always ready with the charger, power bank, all cables, pens, old wired earbuds for when I can't use the AirPods Pro 2.
      • Alternatively, an AirFly may also help.
    • I keep carabiners attached to my backpack, you never know when you'll need one. e.g. to hang the backpack, shopping bags, help carrying bags, etc.
    • Packing Cubes may look silly but are life changing, as others mentioned.
    • eSIM from Saily or Airalo (referral link, 3 EUR for both of us), so you already leave the plane with internet.
    • Flighty iPhone app for updates and other useful info. Great app, just wish it was cheaper. I usually go with the free option or buy the weekly subscription and cancel.
    • Travel light. If I got my passport and credit card, most stuff can be arranged later. Stuff like deodorant or toothpaste I can buy when I get to my destination.
    • Edit: One more, keep your phone on “Low Power Mode” while you walk around the city.

Organized crime is a serious scourge on society and the more power they gain, the more extreme measures must be taken to take away their power.

Not sure if you're Brazilian, but it's a more complicated matter as @lou also mentioned. All criminal groups have heavy ties to the police in Brazil, so this looks a lot like politics and power instead of trying to solve the issue. It's a systemic problem and many powerful people have a lot to lose if this ends, so it never will. And innocent hardworking people always pay the price.

If I were not using Firefox, I'd go with Zen Browser. But there's also these cool experimental ones you may wanna play with:

    • Glide is a Firefox fork that let you customize everything with code.
    • Nook is Webkit based and tries to be Arc, minus Atlassian.

And if you need it to be Chromium based, then Vivaldi.
