    I'm all for making voting more accessible for everyone, but until we can find a way to make voting like this as secure as paper voting (ie definitely not now) I can't bring myself to support it....

    I'm all for making voting more accessible for everyone, but until we can find a way to make voting like this as secure as paper voting (ie definitely not now) I can't bring myself to support it. There's just too much space for abuse and corruption. It's hard and time consuming to fake enough paper votes without bring super noticeable, but changing a bunch of votes is too trivial to do if everything is electronic.

      To add to this I also think realistically electronic voting wont be secure in our lifetimes.

      I know that might be kind of a stretch, but I don't think we will have the capabilities to truly make any software 100% secure from tampering.

    Open-source the code, and I might think about the suitability of the application. Nonetheless, there are a thousand ways to hack mobile anything, and I doubt that a random vendor is going to do...

    Open-source the code, and I might think about the suitability of the application. Nonetheless, there are a thousand ways to hack mobile anything, and I doubt that a random vendor is going to do crypto so well that all of the phone OS and cellular security flaws cease to be relevant.

    However, I am definitely going to whip out the phrase "buzzword compliance" in a meeting or two this week.
