    While this method works great on paper and in cases where they are retroactively looking at the data, in reality it’s going to be prone to lots of noise. Pressure, temperature and changes in length put strain on the fiber which distorts the signal and can cause power fluctuations in their interrogation system. The US Navy and General Dynamics wasted billions trying to develop this technology into hydrophone systems. Sadly it just doesn’t workout as a predictor/detector in a noisy system full of unknowns.
