This doesn't surprise me. Surveillance of workers by management is about control. Managers want to be able to control workers so that they can predict the result of their work.
Workers, being human, naturally tend to resent such efforts. When attempts at controlling workers become too intrusive, resentment becomes resistance. Fortunately for management, worker resistance remains an individualized effort rather than an organized, collective effort.
