That's not suspicious at all. I'm sure it's just a total coincidence that the party (and President) that directly benefited from lax cybersecurity and is under investigation for potential collusion with a hostile foreign power known to employ literal armies of hackers, is attempting to erode what little protection the US has even further just before a midterm that polling (and special election results) seem to indicate they may get obliterated in without something extraordinary happening. These are totally the actions that innocent people would take in the face of all that.
