I was one of the early adopters of Discord but recently after reading their privacy policy I've become somewhat distasteful of the platform. I went on a search for another VOIP program and eventually landed on Teamspeak. Sure, it does cost a monthly fee but the fee to not have all your chat logged and examined was worth it for a couple of friends of mine.

Despite what I just said, I see the benefits of Discord. Namely these benefits:

    1. UI is much nicer.
    2. Getting people into your server is much easier to explain. (Click on the link!)
    3. It's free.

Sometimes it sucks when a friend wants to join our VC and having to explain he has to download a new application and use this IP to join. For the average tilde reader it sounds like nothing but for a lay person the UI of TS is pretty daunting. And by daunting I mean, it looks like a Windows XP program. I'm not expecting anything soon but I would love it if a VOIP program had the same look/feel as slack/discord but charged a monthly fee and did not have any privacy concerns.

Whether that will ever come? 🙄

Discord is making some great moves with their expansion into the digital sales space. I wish I could be a fly on the wall of their strategy meetings.
