In all seriousness, this is a first generation product I wouldn't recommend buying no matter how much disposable income you might have.

Still, this isn't exactly great word of mouth. Samsung's come back from worse though. I remember people shouting doom when there was the whole exploding phone issue a few years ago, but the Galaxy brand is still very much alive and well.

let's be honest, most of the time they're basically only around to make the product look good. outside of spectacularly indefensible failures like this one and the whole exploding phone problem back in 2018, i can't remember the last time i saw a genuinely critical review of a new product like this in most technology outlets, even if the technology in question is basically only being made to create something new for consumers to buy and serves essentially no genuine purpose in the marketplace.

Most reviewers I've found will list the pros and cons to each device. I think the problem with today's phone market is that there's not really a lot of variation or innovation going on, so it's hard to criticize a product that's just like all the others. After a while, the same repeated criticisms of lacking a headphone jack, poor battery life, bulky, or whatever etc. start to lose their effect if everyone has them.

Respectfully disagree, though I understand your point.

The reviewer's job is to make themselves money, really. I struggle to call YouTubers such as MKBHD and members of the amateur tech press reviewers by any sensible definition of the word. Take MKBHD for example. All he really does is sandwich 10 minutes of summarising the specifications of the device with some light usability discussion in between some fancy video graphics.

If you want to know what a review looks like, I'd suggest people visit AnandTech.

Yeah, AnandTech, Tom's Hardware (hit or miss sometimes), Guru3D, Gamersnexus, Overclockers Club, Hardware Canucks, WSGF, cpu-world... there are plenty of good hardware review and benchmark sites...

Yeah, AnandTech, Tom's Hardware (hit or miss sometimes), Guru3D, Gamersnexus, Overclockers Club, Hardware Canucks, WSGF, cpu-world... there are plenty of good hardware review and benchmark sites out there if you know where to look. Even ifixit's teardowns and the "final thoughts" in them are often a great way to judge a piece of hardware IMO.
