Yes, it's equivalent to the "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Facebook" buttons that most unrelated apps and websites already have as options. Apple are also apparently going to require any developers who include the other two in their iOS apps to add the Apple option as well.
I'm not even a fan of Apple's systems but at face value, that's a pretty good idea.

I'm a little confused, if I have an Apple ID, would this work on non-Apple platforms?
