What a glorious headscratcher this whole affair has been. There was a recent thread on Metafilter about a Deadspin article called I Broke The Official Jeremy Renner App By Posting The Word "Porno"...

What a glorious headscratcher this whole affair has been. There was a recent thread on Metafilter about a Deadspin article called I Broke The Official Jeremy Renner App By Posting The Word "Porno" On It. As far as I can tell, that is directly connected to the app's downfall.

Also notable: this Twitter thread notes the obvious disconnect between the "hackers impersonating Renner" excuse and the fact that the app made it look like all comments were posted by him by design. This other Twitter thread is pure gold too.

What in the world... It's just... a curated list that he gets referral credit from? Damn...didn't know the dude was so hard up.

Those pictures, though! Looks like he's never been camping in his life. I'm not convinced he didn't just pose in front of a greenscreen and get Photoshopped into some outdoors scenes.

Nobody must have been purchasing "stars" because I can't imagine that it's worth shutting down a profitable app over a bug that is probably easy to fix.

Reminds me of an old comedy routine "I think we're all trolls on this bus." Hmmmm.
