This surprises me. At least tell me they're not letting crowds in; the sports are being played only to a television audience.
No. There are no major sports being played right now - including MLB. Everything has been halted. The last time the Giants played the Dodgers was on March 4th and it was a spring training game at...

The last time the Giants played the Dodgers was on March 4th and it was a spring training game at Camelback Ranch in Arizona. The last time those two teams played in San Francisco was September of 2019.
Thanks. Good to know! But with all the confusing stories coming out of the USA, it's not outside the realms of possibility that they're still playing contact sports.

I don't know what sort of sport involves "Dodgers vs Giants". I just saw the names, knew they were sporting teams of some kind, and decided to ask about team sports being played.

That's not entirely true, which I know first hand from being a former AAA Rep division Catcher. I would get absolutely demolished by a full speed body check at home plate at least a few times a season, and that's pretty par for the course at most highly competitive levels IME. And so long as the catcher is in possession of the ball before blocking the plate, and the runner does not deviate from the path to intentionally collide with a catcher standing off the plate, collisions are still considered fair game in most leagues even today. See: Blocking the plate

Contact sports are sports that are heavily based on or require contact between opponents. That isn't baseball. Player-to-player contact is not a main feature in baseball - regardless of the fact that it occurs sometimes. It's in the most literal sense defined as sports "that emphasize or require physical contact between players."
Sports such as football, rugby, and hockey rely heavily on contact.
There is also contact in soccer, for example on a corner kick, but soccer is not a contact sport - very much in the same way that baseball isnt.
I didn't say that baseball was a contact sport. I was simply replying to your claim that "The only contact is a ball hitting a bat", which isn't entirely true.

Agree. But also, baseball isn't a contact sport.
