Did youtube just make it so you can't watch embedded videos that have an age restriction without logging in?

I just try to navigate the internet with as little "logging in" as possible. Youtube always had an age restriction that forced you to confirm your age by logging in but it could be bypassed when watching the video embedded on another site. I just tried for the Hitman 3 trailer on /r/games and it didn't let me. That's the first time this happened. Could it be just some adblock thingy? Or are they no longer letting you watch restricted content without logging in?

There's a way around it with DuckDuckGo:

    1. Click on YouTube video and copy the name
    2. Search the name on DDG's video search (you can use the !v bang)
    3. Play the video

DDG can even take you into the YouTube page and the video will play without a sign-in.

It's been like this for a week or so. Very annoying, as I also try to use YouTube as much as possible without being logged in.

Sometimes the instances don't work, but you can use other ones. You can find a full list of instances here: https://invidio.us/ Invidious is just a YouTube proxy. It's a way to watch YouTube...

Invidious is just a YouTube proxy. It's a way to watch YouTube without actually going to YouTube. Any video you can find on YouTube, you can watch on Invidious. The reason it has so many instances is because multiple people are hosting it, so you have multiple options if one of them is not working.

A handy tip: In the Invidious search bar, you can place a YouTube link in it and it will take you directly to the video. This comes in handy when you have a link from another site and you watch the video on Invidious.
