No deflection, no misdirection or marketing, just an honest appraisal of the situation and the confidence to point out where they can improve and where they're doing what they can in an imperfect world. I know it's perhaps a disservice to call ProtonMail "corporate", but I feel like they are setting an excellent example that really wouldn't even be that hard for larger companies to follow.
