That same statement could apply to the various surviellance mechanisms built or tapped into by the US government, whose usage of is no less nefarious. But reports of such things are always more alarmist when it's Russia or China.

There's worlds between state control in China vs the US (or anywhere in the EU) and to shrug off that difference seems to do more to endorse the surveillance in China than it does to condemn it in the US.

You're not wrong, I agree what being discussed is bad. I would just like the other sides to be held to the same standard.
