Is there a roadmap of any kind for ~ development?
I had a look at r/tildes and there was nothing, don't think there is a search option here either. Any estimations for beta, going public? marketing?

A bunch of this is either "we don't know" (beta, it just depends on when enough features are made), "work in progress" (marketing, see the daily discussions, there's been some mentions), and "not happening" (going public, ~ will be a non-profit).
Please read the docs, or see the issue tracker on gitlab for other answers.
The ~ development board is more like a traditional roadmap than the raw issues tracker too. There is no specific timelines on anything but the board view makes it easier to see what features are currently in progress, what are high priority, what will be coming in the future, and what are mere suggestions or raw ideas at this point.
~ is supposed to become open-source soon, although there's already quite a few planned features and bug reports on the Gitlab page .
